Sorry - am still alive, just going through a really busy time with paid
work!
The state save was applied to the win32 branch mainly because (I seem to
remember) this was in the same patch as the keep alive - which was
definitely required as box regularly died with large files on the diffs.
Sorry don't remember the details too much...

Exactly, the whole diffing pause/resume needs a rework for the KeepAlive
to work properly.
