Hello Ben and all,
I haven't had any time to dedicate to box recently but would like to
pick up a little from my last input.
I have been reading a little on the current outstanding problems with
the win32 client, mainly the serious ones, large files and locking
problems.
I think it is important that these get resolved and I am happy to help
out, large files just needs fixing (I thought it was last time I worked
on it!), but I was thinking about file locks, a good idea would be to
integrate Shadow Coy Services. I had a quick look at bacula, they have
implemented it in there latest version, unfortunate that it is GNU, so I
know Ben doesn't want this license. VSS is great, because as well as
giving you access to files with exclusive locks, they also get VSS aware
applications to ensure the underlying data is consistent - such as
Exchange.
Another comment about large files, lets say there wasn't a problem;
another issue I have noticed is with the time taken to upload large
files, if you are behind an ADSL connection, and there is a very good
chance that the connection would be dropped box at the moment simply
starts again, are there any ideas around this?
Can someone point me in the direction to the latest sources, so I can
have a play; also is visual studio the preferred method for building -
or other?
Thanks
Nick
