Following up, I can now report I've been using this patch successfully
across three weeks worth of backups with regular validation (via
"bbackupqquery compare" and direct comparison of restored data files).

I realize this is a substantial change, and that finishing 0.11 is a
priority. However, is there any timeline for when it might be possible to
get my patch considered for a future release?

If there is a more appropriate channel for patch submission please let me
know. I don't find any specific mention of patch submission on the developer
Wiki.
