[Box Backup] Comments on BoxBackup 0.09b Win32 reliability?

Hello Gary,

I did the port because I needed the windows port - there where problems
on the cygwin port - like filenames in Unicode format meant that box
would fail and stop a backup when it hit one.

I am running the windows port on approx. 10 servers and it does appear
to be stable, we have an issue where after a month or so of running
(very randomly) box process will consume 99% of CPU for a period of
time, not sure whether this has been resolved as I have seen some
comments that this exist in other ports as well.

The only other bugs I have witnessed are a couple of annoyances in box
query where the client drops out - but this has been rare in my
experience.

I have also seen comments that if you don't install it in the default
location it is a bit of a pain...

So looking for feedback from other boxwin users!

Nick

Subject: [Box Backup] Comments on BoxBackup 0.09b Win32 reliability?

Hi Everyone,

I have been following BoxBackup progress for some time now, but never
tried the system yet due to lack of a native Win32 port. I notice 0.9
version introduces a "Native Windows (client only, still in testing)".
I also found the Win32 0.9b version on the list archive with latest
fixes.

Question: is anyone out there running the Win32 0.9b native client
successfully on regular basis? Any comments on its reliability and
possible pitfalls at this point in the development process? I would be
happy to install and join the testing process, if the 0.9b can be
trusted reasonably well to get my backups done, perhaps with some
additional backup verification.

Regards,

Gary
