i personally prefer software raid

you have to read raid-howto ho TLDP, it explains how to migrate from a
single-disc system to a raid1 one. simply install a sata disc as sdc
(secondary master) copy all the data on it then boot on it remove the
80giga one and follow the instruction on TLDP.
it's a bit noisy and not so fast but it's safe to do :)
