I would second that. I think the same directory as the executable is the most intuitive choice.

However, if you really wanted to do this The Only True Windows Way(TM), an equivalent of /etc/box would be C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\BoxBackup, available through ::SHGetSpecialFolderLocation().
