Correct, I just wanted to point out that signing the binaries does not
address the underlying trust problem, but it does establish an
authenticated path.

Could you please be a bit more specific about "what Chris has been doing
with his"? I found a message from 2006 [1], which coincidentally also has
you in the thread, together with some still standing bugs: refer to the
tracker for details.
In that message, Chris announced the availability of a build on a certain
website, and links to a URL for the ZIP download. There is no signature or
MD5/SHA-1 hash attached.
Did I miss something?

I posted them to the mailing list not too long ago, but will do so again
now for the latest 657 build.
