Actually, Boxi's Setup Wizard is intended to make the process a lot
simpler: have a look at it!
It will create a private key and a certificate request (CSR) for you. You
then send that CSR file (NOT the private key) to the server and sign the
request, resulting in a PEM file. You now have to transfer that PEM file
and a file called serverCA.pem back to the client (search the howto for
those names).
With all those ingredients (private key and CSR produced on client, PEM and
serverCA.pem produced on server) you can then create the encryption key in
the Setup Wizard, resulting in a FileEncKeys.raw file that you need to back
up: if you lose that file, you lose all your backed up data.
