Yes. But the store has to be filled to the soft limit.
BoxBackup will then first remove the older versions of that file and then delete non-existing files.

Yes. And B.B. fails. I'm looking for alternatives now, as this is unacceptable for me.

So again:
Store is filled to soft-limit. I accidentally remove some mails from say '99. House keeping kicks in and deletes them immediately from the store to make room.  Renders boxbackup useless for me.
