[IWE] He's dead, Jim - UPDATE

News from Greg...

Knight2 had one of the SATA-II drives fail ~ 18:00-18:30

It shunted power through itself, it being on the same power bus as the
other drive. Other drive is okay, but was not able to be powered
properly.

/var is the only (/dev/sda5) partition affected.

Currently, the plan is to finish re-mirroring the good drive, with a
replacement for the second one. Then fail the good one (after the
re-mirror is done) and swap in another drive.

BTW, this SUCKS! And the serial numbers (had I noticed) on the drives
were sequential. Making a high likelyhood that both would be dead one
after another.

Currently, I am waiting for the re-mirror to be successful so I can add
the other drive. Then I'll start the second re-mirror, button up
Knight2, then monitor from home.

Apparently one of the mirrored drives on Knight2 decided to puke (shorting
out). He's cleaning things up now and hopefully things will be better soon.

Hey,

I think Greg was talking about hard disk problems with the gateway box
on the IWeThey Jabber server a few days ago. My guess is that it's
something he's aware of.

:-(

Cheers,
Scott.
