Another Monday, another e-voting conundrum.

But it is possible that the machines in question cannot be shown to have
been properly tested:

How does the one square with the other? 

Is there any reasonable defence for this kind of nonsense? Is there any
rationale beyond convenience for giving away transparency in the electoral
process?

Further, what is the justification for allowing trade secrets into the
fundament of American democracy?
