The key is only used on the client, because all the encryption is done 
on the client only. The server allows or denies access based on the 
certificate presented.

It's the keys file, not the certificates you need to check.

That shouldn't be a problem.

Is there any particular file or directory which causes the problem? 
Might you have accidently allowed a client with a different keys file 
to write to the store?
