[Box Backup] Boxbackup usage

I plan on using a server for a dual purpose file server and backup system. 
The desired backup system would be a single hot swap drive that would be 
used to store files offline.  This seems like a job for rsynch, though I am 
interested in the encryption and automation features built into boxbackup.

Can boxbackup be run on the same server with the file system to be backed 
up?

Does boxbackup handle hot swap drives?  If so, does it allow for spanning a 
backup session across several drives?
