That is very strange. If you set the soft limit below the amount of
non-deleted and non-old data, then all old and deleted files should be
removed on the next housekeeping run. If that does not happen, as it
appears not to on your system, please enable debugging by running bbstored
with the -V option, and enable your system logs to log debug level
messages for Box Backup if necessary, and send us (or just me if you
prefer) the logs from a housekeeping run.

You should see "starting housekeeping" and "finished housekeeping"
messages in your system logs even without enabling debugging. Please let
us know if you do not, and include a copy of your /etc/syslog.conf.
