I will not claim that Oakland is enjoying the best weather in North
America this afternoon--merely that nowhere is it better. Shirtsleeve
temperatures. A slight breeze. Warm sunlight tending toward the
silver. The new cathedral two blocks down the street shows up
handsomely on the drive from the estuary (sorry; link has no pix from
that vantage). The crumbling manse, no longer crumbling since it was
shored up this summer, wears its cosmetic improvements (new paint;
natural wood shingles) to great effect in the afternoon light.
