Well, I kinda share his response. I've heard of Alien. I've even seen boxed
DVD set of the movies. I left it on the shelf. It really doesn't appear to
be a movie I want to see.

Ah, ok. I kinda know who Homer Simpson is. But it would probably surprise
you to learn that I've never seen a single episode. I've seen ads, I've seen
many references to him. But again, the show has no appeal to me.
Maybe I should tell you that I don't watch broadcast TV. I don't have cable,
satellite or rabbit ears on my TV. I do have a TV. We use it to play games
and watch movies (less so movies as we have taken to using the computer for
that). We have tried subscribing to cable a couple of times. But the vast
majority of what's available isn't worth the cost and the time to watch it.

So we choose not to.

I guess I have a different taste in books, films and television than most.
