[IWE] Sara Palin calls Kissinger naive

It was a stupid thing for Palin to say.

I've never heard Kissinger say "Y'know, I think that axe-murdering one's =
children and making soup out of them is bad", either, but I know what his=
 position on lumberjack child cookery is.

The lack of contradiction means that she accepted the interviewer's posit=
ion, which was that she thought Kissinger was na=C3=AFve. If she didn't w=
ant to say that, she should have said "No, I'm not saying that."

This is semantics, yes. The semantics matter, though.

Palin: I've never heard Henry Kissinger say, "Yeah, I'll meet with these =
leade
rs=20
without preconditions being met." that contradicts couric trying to link =
kissinger with obama statement

She made a piss-poor job of not-calling-Kissinger-na=C3=AFve, then.

In a "yes, she did call him na=C3=AFve because when specifically asked if=
 she was=20
calling him na=C3=AFve, she failed to contradict the interviewer" kind of=
 way.

Too busy reading the internal script, it looks like.

The point is not just that she's wrong, but also that, in talking such ca=
ck, she=20

demonises a country whose population is a lot more positive towards Ameri=
ca than=20

America deserves.

Another jaw dropping moment of stupidity. You can Kissinger wrong, you ca=
n call=20
him evil, but trying to call him naive is idiotic.

Couric: You met yesterday with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger,=
 who is=20

for direct diplomacy with both Iran and Syria. Do you believe the U.S. sh=
ould=20
negotiate with leaders like President Assad and Ahmadinejad?
Palin: I think, with Ahmadinejad, personally, he is not one to negotiate =
with.=20
You can't just sit down with him with no preconditions being met. Barack =
Obama=20
is so off-base in his proclamation that he would meet with some of these =
leaders=20

around our world who would seek to destroy America and that, and without=20
preconditions being met. That's beyond na=C3=AFve. And it's beyond bad ju=
dgment.
Couric: Are you saying Henry Kissinger ...
Palin: I
t's dangerous.
Couric: ... is na=C3=AFve for supporting that?
Palin: I've never heard Henry Kissinger say, "Yeah, I'll meet with these =
leaders=20

without preconditions being met." Diplomacy is about doing a lot of backg=
round=20
work first and shoring up allies and positions and figuring out what sanc=
tions=20
perhaps could be implemented if things weren't gonna go right. That's par=
t of=20
diplomacy.
