It was a stupid thing for Palin to say.

I've never heard Kissinger say "Y'know, I think that axe-murdering one's =
children and making soup out of them is bad", either, but I know what =
his position on lumberjack child cookery is.

The lack of contradiction means that she accepted the interviewer's =
position, which was that she thought Kissinger was nave. If she didn't =
want to say that, she should have said "No, I'm not saying that."

This is semantics, yes. The semantics matter, though.
